Solar and a heat pump are not the same season

The heat pump draws hardest in January. The array produces hardest in June. They overlap in the shoulder months and miss each other for about four months a year, and no amount of panels fixes that.

What the array does do is carry the hot water and the standing load from March to October, which is where the bill reduction in this job actually comes from.
